for example, cod: waw doesn't have weapon camouflages in multiplayer and younger players may get upset if they can't have a pink stg-44 or green mosin nagant. Old school players don't mind these things much but most of the new generation players would find old cod multiplayers as dull. back then, every november a cod game would be released and a new DLC used to arrive usually per each 2-3 months, no content at all between DLCs, aside from patches fixing bugs/crashes and optimizing. Microtransactions started in bo2 customization got more complex since bo1 and players today are more impatient when it comes to new content for shooter games.

multiplayer modes changed a lot since the golden age of cod series (all games between and including cod 4 and black ops 2, imho).
My thoughts didn't change since then and I think we can get only campaign remasters in the future. This is what made me make this thread thinking about the possibilities making a remaster. My steam friend lost his cd and bought WaW on steam, and then we started talking about the good times we had playing the game. Well for myself and friend's who played waw we played the multiplayer maps, we had a community clan group. and bo3 has mod tools and steam worksop for custom content.Ī campaign mode with enhanced graphics (ray tracing!) would be fantastic, no doubt for that. base zombie maps have already been remastered twice, in bo1 and bo3. but activision tried to remaster them one by one and mw3 remastered is likely to be released in 2-3 years at most.Ĭurrently cod: waw is mostly famous for its zombies mode but zombies is also the least important reason to remaster this game. frankly, I would have preferred the mw trilogy (cod 4, mw2, mw3) being remastered together as one big game of campaign mode and also merging all the maps and all the weapons in multiplayer, using mw3's pointstreak and perk system.
I also think that after modern warfare: remastered which came bundled with infinite warfare, activision doesn't want to split multiplayer community. I like the general gameplay, quality of maps (tank maps, especially) and feel of weapons but waw multiplayer was basically a cod 4 with ww2 theme, aside from several improvements. Waw multiplayer wasn't favored a lot during its prime and it remained at a relatively unpopular position between cod 4 and mw2, both of which being preferred by more fans. I guess a cod: waw remaster might happen after a few years, but I doubt it will have multiplayer or zombies.
